Ottawa
At the foot of Percy Street, a few blocks from my house there
is a small park and a lily pond known to the locals as the
dog walker’s meeting place. The draw to this area in
the seasons is the glorious yellow of the lily pads, not the
shape of Monet’s pads but a distinctly Canadian version.

Brown's Inlet in the Fall

Ducks and dogs think they own the pond but the brilliant
yellow plants fully cover the water surface.
Because houses outline the water’s edge, their gardens
and the trees offer an enormous variety of seasonal colours
all of which are reflected in the water pond.
So for someone crazy about colour, this location is a colour-rich
source ready for the brush and palette.
“Vivid and powerful they capture form and light in
a new exciting way.”
